Internet Love Letter

Today, the sky was overcast. I think the heavens mourned for you as well. When I dropped you off this morning, I quipped a few asinine thoughts, but do you want to know a secret? I only make jokes when I am insecure, or rather unsure, of what to say or do. From personal experience, it has always been easier to be the fool than be sincere. If you want to know the truth, Hilary, I was terrified to see you go. I prayed for your safe journey all day. Only your text, telling me you arrived in Vermont, assuaged my fears.
Yet, I know this is an awesome experience for you. You're in Vermont! You're starting your grad school program. I hope you are not feeling overwhelmed by the others. You're one of the best writers I know. Just do your best.
Church was good today. A lot of people sent their regard and support. I'm excited for your correspondence. I look forward to your phone call tonight.

PS- Sammy was a turd. He leapt on the couch, and started to lick to cushions, as if there were food stains on them (which there aren't!). He and I fought over that, and he stopped when I forced him off the couch. I guess the struggle wore him out, because he's spent most of the day sleeping. I think he's missing you something awful.
